We have already said alot of the tweaks and apps. U get it off Cydia app store it's installed when u jailbreak.
My apologies, I had just read the first page and then posted. I should have read all three first.

Most of the awesome apps or tweaks are paid version. But there are free apps and tweaks as well. Here is a list of paid and free apps & tweaks:
Thanks, I can really appreciate this list. In an earlier thread I asked about Cydia and got a link to a website that listed apps but I found maybe twenty tops, nowhere near as many as youve listed.

Now, a few more questions. Forgive me if these have been answered already but I want to make sure Im informed.
1) With the phone jailbroken, will I still need to convert my music files to use them as notifications or ringtones, or can I just create some sort of folder and drop it on the iPhone then point it there?
2) Will I still be able to use regular apps?
3) How will I be able to download or update regular apps once the phone is jailbroken? Id have to un-jailbreak it right? Is that hard to do?
4) Will my iTunes even tell me that some apps need to be updated?
5) Is iTunes affected by jailbreaking as well or just the iPhone?
6) Emulation, I havent seen that mentioned yet. Where can I get those apps, what all is emulated and are they worth it?
7) Which apps would you recommend? Free and paid? What are Must Haves in your opinion?

Im sure theres more but those are the main ones on my mind right now.

1- there is apps in cydia to turn any music in your ipod app into ringtone, that app does everything for u and no need of itunes or convert anything by your self.
2- yes you are able to use regular apps just as if you've never jailbreak before.
3- you do not need to unjailbreak before you can install or update regular apps. Whenever there are updates for regular apps, the app store will notify you just the way it does when you are not jailbreak. And same for installing new regular apps, just open app store, look up f or the app you want to install and install it just like that.
4- itunes in your computer never tells that your apps need updates, jailbreak or not, the app store does that, and you will have to visit the app store from time to time to be able to know if there are updates for any of your installed application.
5- itunes is nowhere affected by the jailbreak, itunes doesn't know what is jailbreak and the is no conflicts and itunes will function just as if you've never jailbreak before. But itunes will not back up or eveb recognize your jailbreak apps or tweaks.
6- if i'm not mistaking, i think emulation is about cracked apps. I don't know about those. I know about cydia apps which you shouldn't mix up with ways to crack regular apps.
7- there is a thread on the forum talking about "cydia top 10 apps" you might want to tap in the search bar to locate that thread. As for regular top apps, you will see it in your app store department "top 10"
Ouuuuf.

Those that have cons about jailbreaking are just unknowledgable of the true essence of the jailbreak. They have yet to experience the true potential of their iPhones hidden powers. Many don't know how to take advantage of their iPhone when given the ultimate power of "Root Access". Jailbreak is more than just getting apps, themes and tons of sources, it is the ability to take total control of your iPhone and turn it into the most powerful handheld computer in the World.

I agree.

there seems to be endless threads of people having problems and it puts people off doing it....

if you dont know what you are doing i would stay away from it.. though its such a simple process and out of 4 years i never had a single problem not even with ziphone....

but some times you can make a mistake and you go crazy not having a clue what you have done wrong... or people pay for jailbreaks that claim they work with firmwares that it does not and complain when it does not work and they end up with 100000 problems..

we will have the worlds first jailbreaking event that looks to be good... MyGreatFest

And i fully agree on this one as well.

I would like to jailbreak but I am unsure which jailbreak to install. I am hesitant to upgrade to 4.2.8 IOS (or whatever the latest iOS is) for fear there is no compatible JB. So please direct me:
1. Which JB do I use
2. Should I update to latest iOS before i JB?
3. How easy is it to "un-Jailbreak" for warranty issues (if any).
4. Does Cydia use Paypal to purchase apps?

Thank you I really appreciate the advice!

Yes you can upgrade to the lates iOS, itunes can do that very easy. But about jailbreaking, are you under contract with your carrier? If yes you might need an unlock after jailbreaking your iOS, so here you need tk make sure that your device baseband is supported and can be unlock.
It's very easy to unjailbreak, just connect the device to itunes and click restore and that's it. Apple will never know that you jailbreak the device before.
Yes cydia apps can be purchase by paypal, and also by amazon.

I am on contract with Verizon. When you say "unlock after jailbreak" does that mean I need to re-register my phone in itunes (just like when you get it new). How do I find if my device is "baseband" supported?

No no, i'm not talking about itunes, i'm talking about unlocking your phone, but you seem to me to not be having a sim card phone, if you do not use a sim card in your phone, then i don't think that you will need to unlock it. I'm not sure about that, but i think you just need to jailbreak and that's it. About baseband, if your device have one, you should then be ale to find it under settings> general> about: modem firmware.

ok, why don't you first jailbreak this actual version of iOS you are having in yoir device before upgrade? I'm saying this because by jailbreaking the actual iOS you are having in your device, you will be able to save your iOS shsh, and this will allow you to downgrade back to this same iOS incase the latest iOS you will upgrade will give you hard time by killing your battery or not fonctioning well. I would take the time to jailbreak now, save my iOS shsh, and then use itunes to upgrade the iOS and then jailbreak it. If it's stable i will keep it, otherwise i will easily be able to downgrade back. NB without jailbreaking now, you will not be able to save your actual iOS shsh, and without saving your actual iOS shsh your will not be able to downgrade and you can say GOOD BYE forever to your actual iOS once you upgrade, these are just advices, it's all your call, and you can just upgrade using itunes now and then jailbreak right after the upgrade, but if it has issues and whatever, there is no going back to your actual iOS. Also remember to backup your files using itunes before upgrade or even before jailbreaking your actuall iOS.
