Good news on ios 5 untethered jailbreak

Hopefully not. Hopefully he comes to his senses and doesn't burn the exploit before 5.1 is released. I think all these impatient unappreciative kids are getting in his head and clouding his judgement. Would you rather wait another 3-4 weeks or so for an untethered jailbreak that works on 5.1(a major update) or would you rather wait on 5.0.1 for the next 4 months while they try to find and develop another exploit?

Patience is a virtue! At least you A4 users have a tethered jailbreak, I don't even get that but I am still willing to wait until after 5.1 for the jailbreak, because I'd rather have the fixes and additions 5.1 brings, then to have a jailbreak right this second.

Well i have been scrolling through the forum and I cant help but ask but, i thought that i saw pod2g was going to release a jailbreak for the iphone 4s this monday? Can someone correct if I am wrong please. Thanks

No, he never said that. He has not once given an exact release date or even an estimated release date.

Unfortunately no. Taking a lot longer this time. Even with iOS 4's original release we had our first untethered jailbreak in 42 days. iOS 5 is proving to be a little more bullet proof on A5 chip devices.. :-(.. And unless I miss my guess, I'm pretty sure they'll wait for 5.1 to be released to clear out some more 'alleged' battery issues and other bugs - before they'll release the jailbreak for the 4S and iPad2. There is already a semi-untethered JB for iPhone4 on 5.0.1 and 5.0.+10,000!! Jmills is right on point here. We definitely don't want to waste an exploit for an unteth 5.0.1 JB. We want it 'after' 5.1 is out. And 5.1 is already in beta2 which means Apple will release it shortly. If the devs let out the JB for 5.0.1 then Apple will be able to find and close the exploit 'before' 5.1 comes out. As of now Apple does NOT know of their exploit - so chances are 5.1 will still have the 'coding error' our devs can use to JB 5.1 too. Be a little more patient..

It doesn't matter if they know there are exploits, there are literally MILLIONS of places the exploit could exist, if they don't know the exact location of the exploit, or what is causing it, there's nothing they can do about it. This is why the jailbreakers never reveal how their jailbreak works before releasing it. Apple trying to find the exact exploit pod2g is using without knowing anything about it is the proverbial "needle in a haystack." On the other hand, as soon as he releases it, they can reverse engineer it and pinpoint the exact location and cause of the exploit.

Of course there's always the possibility that they could unintentionally find and patch the exploit he is using before they release 5.1, but the chances are small.

Im with you. I would rather wait so everyone can get the major update and still be able to get an untethered jailbreak. Granted I wouldnt mind having the untethered right now lol

Agree. with 5.1 so close to being released it makes more sense to wait. whats the point of going through all the trouble to release a jailbreak for a firmware that will soon be old news?
