wrong country

Live in Malta expat Brit. Recently purchased iphon14plus in Gozo from Epic. Information from an old iphone7 registered in the UK was transferred to my new phone using the old sim. Unable to download any apps, unavailable in your country. People I know in the IT business say a complete fresh reinstall with a new sim card is the only solution.
Any advice? Regards.

The SIM card doesn‘t import the country for your Apple ID. That information might have been transferred by an iCloud backup.

Login to iCloud with your Apple ID via browser. Here‘s the website link: Apple ID
Select “Personal Information”, then go to “Country/Region” and try to change it to the correct country.
