I'm looking forward to seeing how this comes out next year. That will give me more time to save up for one.![]()
Yeah, that's probably how long it will take me to save up anyway. That will give me more time to save up for one.![]()
Yes that makes sense, I suspect Apple may find their sales figures down next year.Maybe if Apple reduced the margins on their devices they'd sell enough of them to increase their total profit even when the profit on each device was less.
Apple needs to find the sweet spot that will sell the most devices for the greatest total profit. They have to stop focussing on making the greatest profit on individual devices.Yes that makes sense, I suspect Apple may find their sales figures down next year.
The general consensus seems to be that Apple have ditched functionality in favour of a thinner MacBook.Apple needs to find the sweet spot that will sell the most devices for the greatest total profit. They have to stop focussing on making the greatest profit on individual devices.
Just think how much better battery life, for example, we'd get if they put the internals of the new MacBook Pro into a case as thick as the previous models. This applies equally to the iPhone and iPad as well. We'd be looking at multi-day battery life instead of all day battery life. An added bonus is the room on the sides of the case for more ports than you'll ever need. The general consensus seems to be that Apple have ditched functionality in favour of a thinner MacBook.
Most people don't care that much about thinness.....

Last year, I bought the last model that still had the optical drive for that reason. I also upgraded the RAM to 8GB and the hard drive to a 1TB 7,200 rpm drive, something you can't do on the new MacBook Pro models.Interesting thoughtPersonally I think the MacBook Pro was perfect as it was right up to 2015 model.
When they removed the drive I think that was the start of this madness.
I think Apple could also benefit from slowing down a bit. Did we actually need the Touch Bar? No. Was it perhaps the product of the need to introduce yet another innovation? I think that is exactly what it was. From what I'm seeing, Apple is now the victim of "aww.. and they were doing so well".Apple needs to find the sweet spot that will sell the most devices for the greatest total profit. You can't go wrong with a Mac mini, I've had mine since 2013 and I still love it. Folks can say what they will, but I'll stick to the Mac mini line as long as I'm in need of a desktop machine. My update path is likely to mean keeping my equipment until it won't run the latest OS. A Mac Mini dual booting Sierra and Win10 will sort me out for a long time, alongside my 2012 MBP. I see little point in updating faster. Macs are cheaper than PCs in the long term because they are useful for much longer.
