Hi guys new to all this . Is jailbreaking safe. If something goes wrong with the phone is it still under warranty. If so how do I do it to vip4

Thanks

Jailbreaking is safe. However, it will "void" your warranty. i put void in quotations because if you restore the iPhone, you lose the jailbreak and no one will ever know you had a JB device... "Restoring" your warranty. I have a verizon iPhone as well. I used greenpois0n to jailbreak mine. You download the program for your computer(mac or PC) and run it. It explains how to do it... then it's done. pretty quick and painless. I've had mine jailbroken since the day it was available, and restored it once because I had to go back to the store for something. No issues. You'll be fine. However, you might want to look up what it's all about and what you can do with it before just Jb'ing the device. A jailbroken device without knowledge of what to do with it is like giving a priest a gun... it just doesn't make sense! lol

Two more quick questions is it free to jailbreak, and how do I restore it if I have a problem

yes its free.. you get tones of scam sites out there that charge but never pay for jailbreak!

also if you decide you hate jailbreak then just stick it in itunes and press restore

Really? why would a jailbreak (software) void a warranty that's hardware related??

because apple dont want you jailbreaking their idevices

It's the same for Android... I'm an in store tech for verizon and if we see it's jailbroken or rooted we can't replace it or even troubleshoot it for you. but usually i just tell you go home, restore it then come back lol

thats nice of you, i bet most apple employees would tell you go home and not even mention restore

Yea, we are actually supposed to note in your account that it was rooted/jailbroken so that for the life of that device you are no longer covered. But I think thats dumb. I used to even tell customers with androids that rooted to just brick it. If it's bricked no one would know it was rooted. But yea, moral of the story- restore before going into the stores for anything people!
