How the hell should i get back my signals with the gevey sim while i upgrading ios 5

I upgraded my iphone from ios 4.3.3 to 5.0.1 with the itunes. didnt save any backups. now the gevey is not working.... the phone was locked by the carrier AT&T US. The AT&T is not open to unlock the iphone. could some1 help me out of this? how can i get my signals back??
