Trouble unlocking with gevey ultra S

Hi, everyone. I don't know why it's so complicated to unlock with gevey but basically I bought this AT&T GSM iPhone 4s off of someone. At the time of purchased, I noticed it was on the welcome screen needing me to activate the phone. I took it home, put in my T-Mo sim. Wasn't able to activate due to whatever server problem when I used my private wifi network. Hooked it up through usb, still no go. Turned it off, restart it while plugged somehow got rid of the activate and was able to get to the home screen. So, I followed instructions on how to use the gevey ultra S which I bought from Applenberry.com. Had the sim placed in with gevey, restarted my phone. Waited about 3 full minutes before the "searching" signal went to no service. So what else am I missing? I'm using a prepaid T-mo sim to test to see if the unlock works. So far nothing but no service after countless restarts.
