Help! My home button doesn't work!

Hi I've joined to see if anyone can help with my major problem! I bought a new iPhone 4 yesterday and it seems that the home button doesn't work all of the time. When the phone is locked and I try to wake it nothing happens. I had to ask hubby to call me to wake it and now that has failed and so I tried to reset. Have plugged it in and sotware is downloading but has stopped as corrupted so trying again! Any ideas? I've never heard of this problem and it was all fine with the 3.

Sounds like your on the right track a restore will tell you if it's just a software issue or hardware. If you keep getting errors try this guide.

thanks very much! I think that's what I've done as the phone is now completely blank and itunes is promping me to restore, but every time I try it says the software is corrupted! I get the feeling that I need to head to the apple shop!

Just because iTunes wants you to restore doesn't mean it's in dfu mode. But yes if you can't or don't feel comfortable an apple tech will restore it for you.
