That would be because.... iOS 6 hasn't been released yet. :-) While I'd LOVE to leave my answer at that... I'll add to it. While their may be exploits that exist in the beta versions of iOS 6... the final version that's released to us will differ in ways yet unknown. Same thing happened w/ all out previous major iOS releases.

There's a jailbreak for the beta release of iOS 6.

Ok... but unfortunately that means nothing towards a JB for the official full release of iOS 6.

It's important to differentiate between a firmware jailbreak exploit and a bootrom jailbreak exploit. The jailbreak that works on iOS6 has nothing to do with iOS6 itself. It's the limera1n bootrom exploit which can never be patched. There will always be a tethered jailbreak for all iPhone4 and lower devices no matter what new firmware is released.

Currently there is absolutely no iOS6 jailbreak whatsoever, and as Thomasjtsi pointed out, it would be pointless to begin working on one now because who knows if the exploit they used would still exist in the official release.

Hopefully it will be jailbroken soon after release, an iphone will not be myphone without unthetered jailbreak.

We had a similar discussion to this last year... Jmills was it you that posted a timeline of major iOS releases compared to how long for their JB's?!?

It has taken between 6 and 12 weeks to create all of the most recent userland jailbreaks. Since there is virtually zero chance of a bootrom exploit being discovered for the iPhone5 any time soon (we don't have one or the 4S yet), I would lay bets that we will not see a JB for IOS6 in anything less than those kind of timeframes... :(

With the introduction of the new lightning connector...more possible options for bootrom exploits or userland will hopefully will appear for the new iPhone 5

IOS 6 GM version has been released....and is jailbreakable (Tethered).....GM versions are usually near enough the finished product....

I'm not sure I agree :)
The lightning connector will have zero contribution in terms of improving the discovery of jailbreak exploits IMHO. If properly designed, it should hinder the discovery of future bootrom exploits. We will need to wait and see though... ;)

And again, a tethered jailbreak is only possible on A4 devices because they are pwned for life via the limera1n exploit. That means any new version of IOS will be jailbreakable quickly because there is always a back door onto the device. It does not provide any evidence of how quickly an untethered JB will take. Since limera1n was released, every minor and major release of IOS including all the beta versions have had a tethered jailbreak available within days...

That said, there is always hope :D

Well let's hope their is a j/b soon, patience is a virtue..

Each JB for a major release has taken longer since 3. The 4S was longest at 13 weeks if memory serves. So we likely won't have a JB for our iPhone 5 until Christmas. That's the main reason I'm not upgrading yet. I'm too reliant upon my jailbreak. At Christmas I'll buy myself an iP5 for the holidays and jailbreak it and load it up with all my favorite stuff while on vacation! Enjoy your locked down new iP5s in the mean time! ;-)

Hmmmm, i haven't bought it myself for the same reason thank you lol.

The lightning connector observation was based on tweets by jailbreak contributor....and now I can't find the tweet...doh......myself, the fact it's a new device on many levels hopefully means loop holes...live and hope... ;)

Well my first post other then a hello here.I am coming from Android where everything was pretty easy once things got rooted.... and im keeping my SGS2 to play with and the new iPhone 5.The thing is i see people saying they are going to wait to upgrade but i say why wait? the longer you wait the longer it is before your upgrade starts over again and maybe not be ready when you want another phone so i always use my upgrade when avil if there is a phone i want why wait?

Now about this here are a few questions...What is the difference in jailbreaks? Teathered or not? and i have the sprint one how long will it be before it can be unlocked? someone wants to buy 1 from me and wants it unlocked not jailbroken.

But what is the difference in those jailbreaks? i use my SGS2 for free paid apps at times and mostly to tether if needed so if someone who has time would like to catch me up on this while we wait for the phone thanks in advance.

This will be my first iPhone coming from Android so be easy with me hahaha
