Unjailbreak

I have a Verizon iPhone 4 running 4.2.6 jailbroken. I need to send the phone back because the home button is starting to work intermittently. I have the 4.2.6 ipsw. Do I just restore through itunes to that and it will be unjailbroken?

Also, when I send it off, do you think they'll send it back completely upgraded?

You can restore like that, just right click restore on the iTunes summary tab, find and select ispw. Who knows if they'll upgrade the firmware. Let's hope that they don't.

You might as well just restore 4.2.10 they will send you a brand new phone anyway(which will probably also come with 4.2.10)

Definitely restore. You don't want to send back a JB'd phone. You don't want to give them any excuse to try and blame you or the JB for causing any faults.

I guess you could ask them not to upgrade it. That's about all you can do.

Ugh now i'm getting error 3194 when trying to restore. I tried changing the ip address of gs.apple.com in my hosts file but it still does it. Any suggestions?

Cydia didnt have my shsh for 4.2.6, but it did have it for 4.2.8. I used tinyumbrella's TSS server to restore to 4.2.8.

Is SHSH new? I don't remember having to mess with this a few years ago.

They started checking it back in 4.0

I get the same error 3194. Does anyone know of any resources on how to avaoid that error? I am working with a iPhone 4 on Verizon, model A1349 running tethered jailbreak 6.1.3. I am using sn0wbreeze v2.9.14 and iTunes 11.0.5.5

Error 3194 is normally encountered when trying to install an I compatable firmware version on an iOS device. Were you trying to upgrade to any iOS version other than iOS 8.1? Currently, iOS 8.1 is the only iOS version you can restore your iPhone to.

Thanks for the quick response scifan57. Not that I don't believe you, but I have looked around some more and I guess I can use iFaith to try and get older shsh blobs. I will post my experience in a bit.

Blobs are unique to each device and blobs from other devices will not work. Also, blobs for a particular iOS version can only be saved while that iOS version is still being signed by Apple.

wow. really? only while still being signed by Apple? So basically I am screwed if I didn't save the dump of my SHSH blob BEFORE I did the jailbreak???
