Stop voicemail

I want to deactivate voicemail. There are a couple of messages yet to be heard but I think they are spam. Eitherway, I don't want this service. I have sent a text to 150 stating remove voicemail divert , how can I be sure this will work?. In return an automatic text came with info about MY EE, does this mean I should try to stop voicemail myself? I have MY EE but cant see anything along those lines and if I could, I am always reluctant to dabble.

According to their site, the message to EE (150) should be "VM OFF", but I've also seen people telling that they made a call to that number, to deactivate voicemail.
