School me on jailbreaking an iPhone for TMobile

I've had a lot of people ask me to do this for them, and for whatever reason (maybe it's ill-advised or whatever) I have a hard time finding new information on Google about doing this. Is it even possible or advisable anymore?

thats all i really know about unlocking for using it with t-mobile, but what is your basseband? im not sure if all basebands at this time can be unlocked to use with a different carrier, someone please shine some more light on this topic, thanks

Currently he only baseband that can be unlocked on an iPhone 4 is the one that it originally came with when it was released. If you've updated it past 4.0.1 (I think) then it can't be unlocked unless you preserved the baseband...

What about people with 3GS?

You can unlock any 3GS if you update to the iPad baseband. However you will forever (or until apple releases a baseband higher then the ipad one for the 3GS) need to rely on custom ipsw if you need to restore and there has been reports of problems with the gps.

I think 3GS's with 5.12.xx and lower can be unlocked...
