Why don't you set up gmail account and forward your ourlook mail to gmail the have apple mail retrieve it works fine. And no it is not apple's fault at all in any way shape or form

Yes it is apples fault in every way shape and form.
Apple requires that you use a current version of a program instead of making their program compatible with older versions. It's the apple way.

Riddle me this: How is it Microsoft's fault that Apple requires you to use Outlook 2007?

They only support current software, like any reasonable software company.

Why would Apple go back and support software from 9 years ago, written by another company, who themselves have already replaced it 5 years ago?
