iDownload Blog reports that Nike’s FuelBand app for iPhone has finally been updated with Apple HealthKit integration. This means that there is no longer any need to buy a separate FuelBand accessory to use the app or earn Fuel points, as your iPhone will do all that for you.

Because of this change, the app will now be known simply as Nike+ Fuel.

Aside from providing more information about your fitness activity via iOS 8’s HealthKit app, having Nike+ Fuel integrated with HealthKit means that your Fuel points are now visible in other apps, as well as being accessible to other apps, via your Health database.

NikeFuel, described as “a metric that helps you get active and stay motivated,” will now track your daily movement via your iPhone, although only iPhone 5s and iPhone 6/6 Plus have the necessary M7 motion coprocessor to enable this feature.

You can also earn fuel points if you connect Nike+ Fuel to other Nike apps, including Nike+ Running and Nike+ Training Club, as well as third-party apps such as IFTTT, Withings, and others.

Sports Feed is another new addition; you can use it to elicit cheers from your friends and post your achievements on social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Finally, the streamlined friend search enables you to quickly find your friends via the app.
