In the latest beta version of iOS 18.1, Apple has introduced a small yet useful update to the Camera Control button found on the iPhone 16 series.
The update allows users to switch to the front-facing camera without needing to interact directly with the phone’s display. Previously, users had to tap on the screen to make this change, but with this update, you can switch cameras more seamlessly.
To access the selfie camera, you simply need to open the Camera app using the Camera Control button and swipe on the button to navigate through the available lenses. At the top of the lens selection, a person icon now indicates the option to switch to the front-facing camera.
For those who have customized Camera Control to another setting, you will first need to open the Camera app, activate Camera Control, and then manually tap on the screen to adjust the settings. The selfie camera, along with other lens options, is located under the "Cameras" section. Notably, the last tool you used will be the default tool that opens when you next activate Camera Control.
Prior to this iOS 18.1 beta, the swipe gesture allowed users to toggle between lens options like 0.5x, 1x, 2x, and 5x (available only on Pro models). Now, the front-facing camera is included in the mix, making it easier to access all lens options without extra steps.
