I mean does it run the latest firmware the same as the 4?
I can buy a new one cheaper than the 4 so I was comparing them

I believe it runs pretty similarly, although the 4 will be faster. Plus the small features like face time and maybe some others.

the 3gs is not even going to get the 5.0 update so forget about the 3gs unless your happy on fw 4.xx

There are a lot of differences between the 3GS and 4 when it comes to hardware power. My coworker has the 3GS and I have the 4. When we did a side by side the following became obvious: the amount of memory the CPU can use, CPU speed, screen resolution and camera. It was enough for me to feel like the iPhone 4 is the better choice of the two.

soon apple is going to forget about the 3gs any way. the 4 is so much better the design the feel of it in your hand. not only that but the 5mp camera vs 3.2mp one a flash for the camera 512mb ram on the 4 the display, the front camera for facetime.. it might be cheaper but in a few months it will be useless forgot about device by apple that will no longer be supported.

knowing apple they will bring firmware out to mess the phone up and make it slow some how just like they did with the iphone 3g and the 4.0 update, the 3g cant handle the 4.0 firmware hence why its abit laggy now apple should allow people to drop to whatever firmware suits them ino it means signing alot of firmware but we pay money and not to be scammed into buying the next new iphone

I agree with you. And hopefully apple will revise their rules regarding iOS upgrade and downgrade. some who never knew or want to jailbreak and upgrade the iOS are stuck with that iOS good or not good. I don't like that politics if apple either.
