I understand that the time on an iPhone is automatically set, but all other sources (computer, TV, news, clocks, etc) tell me it's a few minutes off. Is there any way to reset the time on an iPhone?

You answered your own question. There is no way to automatically sync ntp time on a iPhone. If your jailbroken you can use a app in Cydia called ntpdate.
