How to remove songs from iPhone?

Hi,
I have a new iPhone6, I downloaded media player app Car Tunes. I did not download any songs yet ... but I see a few albums and a bunch of songs on my phone both in 'Music' app and Car Tunes. In iTunes I don't see any songs at all. the only issue with iTunes is that I have message: "The iPhone "xyz" cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (-54).
What should I do? My goal is to delete all songs from the phone but so far I failed to do it since I don't see it in iTunes.

First, turn off syncing for music in iTunes.
Then select "Apply", to sync the changes to your iPhone.
Turn on syncing again, click Apply once more and try to sync.

If this doesn't work, backup your device, restore it from your backup and try syncing it again.

You can also delete a song or album by sliding it left. There is a delete option

I dislike how this is done manually. It used to be so much easier. It's a pain.

You also might want to check that iTunes Match and shown all songs are turned off. Otherwise any song associated with your appleid that are stored in iCloud will still show on your phone. Another thing is that when the 6 and 6+ came out Apple gave away U2's new album. If you don't want it follow these directions to remove it:

It sync to your itunes try turning off sync before you use 3rd party music apps.
