How do I read the media on a thumb

I bought an otg usb cable and thought I could read the media or transfer the files like I could like my android phone. Nope. How do I do it. Thanks

You can't use every thumb drive with your iPhone. The regular ones won't work with it. There are a few that are able to "communicate" with an iDevice, and they all have in common, that they are not cheap, and there's an "i" somewhere in their name: iBridge, iKlips, iFlash Drive, iStick, iXpand.
