Google Maps Update--Auto Dimming fixed?

Anyone know if the google maps update fixes that pain in the butt auto-dimming issue?

Supposedly, yes. I've been following this complaints thread: http://productforums.google.com/forum/m/#!msg/maps/ggYtvbi_Dag/ECooAXFHZtIJ (it's VERY long!).

When the update was released, this person (who claims to work for Google) came on to say this:

I've not had occasion to test the new update out - but hopefully, it's all better.

If Google maps or any other app doesn't appear in the list of your apps awaiting update in the AppStore, it's currently the latest version. When you download a new app from the AppStore, the latest version is what is downloaded.

Well, just for grins, I tried the updated app out on a drive to my cousin's house. The app worked wonderfully and NEVER dimmed. So, yeah, I would say the "problem" is fixed. Yay!
