Apple iPhone 5 Release Date Has To Come

Upping the screen without upping the resolution would result in reduced display quality.

I can't see apple going backward from Retina Display.

As a company they put a lot of emphasis on display quality.

Even though that seems like it should be the opposite and better resolution the above is correct. There is a
such a thing as over fixing.

me too. i'm always person #1 in line at the King of Prussia Mall store near Philly PA the first day of any new iPhone's release. ever since the original iphone that i paid $600 for and then they dropped the price by $200 2 months later and pissed off a lot of us - and then only gave us store credit to be used by november - which they also didn't tell us the 'run out' date of the rebate.

every june since then(or september for the 4s) i've been the first one in Philly to have the newest iphone in my hands. in our area they never ship the "pre-orders" before the people waiting at the stores in Philly and Pittsburgh get their phones after having waited in line. i've not been #1 in line for ipads. but iphones - yes.

yes. there's virtually no way they'll make the screen any larger just to keep ahead of samsung. and samsung's not sporting anything near "retina display" level on their 3.9" either. and we already have "hd". not sure why anyone's saying we don't. hd 1080p is one of the defining aspects of the iphone 4s.

No. The screen will be larger, but there will be no retina display. If there is, I'm switching to wp7.

I seriously doubt Apple would bump the size but not the resolution.

It would be completely un-Apple like, and their first step backward since introducing the iPhone.

HD display with 3.9" screen...bank on that happening.

The Retina Display has been surpassed in resolution and pixel density. Apple wont leave that unchallenged. Never happen.

Good point. I still disagree though. Where did you get the info from?

1. The current i4S does not have an HD display. HD is 1280 x 720 = 921,600 for 720p, or 1920 x 1080 = 2,073,600 for 1080p

This has zero to do with cameras.

The i4S is 960 x 640 = 614,400, which is sub HD by a huge margin. When iPhone 4 was released it was the best in the business by far.

2. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus features a true 720p display 1280 x 720 = 921,600 and is also super AMOLED. It's a damn nice display that is also 4.6" which makes the PPI just a bit lower than the i4S.

I don't see Apple conceding the smartphone display crown since this is what they do better than anyone else.
Thanks for the clarification and the 'math' lesson, Technarchy. Apple is flirting with a bit of 'false advertising' then - as the term "HD" is all over their written materials. But I understand what you mean now. It's important for those reading to acknowledge your concession that despite the Samsung's true HD - due to the 4.6" screen - it really isn't a clearer or higher res display than the iPhone 4 and 4s. It's actually a little less because they have to use the same res to cover a larger screen. So really there's no crown to "yield" by Apple to Samsung at this point. I still believe they will not send their developers back to the drawing board this next round. The Apple Retina display still kills every screen on the market including the Galaxy. But we'll see. I would not be at all interested in a phone screen that big. Totally useless and hard to hold. That's why the Galaxy doesn't even register as a forboding "market share" number in the SmartPhone biz yet. I just think the notion of "bigger is always better" just fails in this context. Phones are phones. Tablets are tablets. Two different uses entirely.

I am always want to know whether all of the rumors about iphone 5 will be coincide with the reality.

Keep an eye out for the iPad3.

Expect a lot of iPad3 DNA to trickle down into the iPhone5, in the same way the iPad2 set the tone for the iPhone4S.

Yeah that's true.

iPad3 is getting a 2048 x 1536 Retina display. That's greater resolution than blu-ray with the same size screen as an iPad1 and iPad2 so the pixel density and clarity should be surreal.

Expect similar innovations in the iPhone5.

But if Apple makes the screen bigger and changes the resolution to 1280 X 720, or 1280 X 1080 then all the developers will have to adjust their apps. All though it didn't take them long to make the adjustments when the retina display was introduced in the iPhone 4.
It will be interesting to see what happens. I think I'll hang on to my 4S til next year. The iPad 3 will be tempting, but I'll probably pass on that was well since I mainly use it for reading and gaming. But then again that would be reason for upgrading. Then again, nuh. I'll wait until next for both.

The app world did not collapse when the Retina display was introduced for the iPhone4.

The app world will not collapse when Retina arrives on the iPad3.

The app world will go on when iPhone5 drops with a slightly larger HD display.

The concern for apps and developers over an irrelevant issue is 100% misplaced. We've already been down this road before on audio/visual, computers and consoles many times over.

I will agree that technology advances wait for noone. If its cooler and better the developers will eventually get there. But it will take a lot of time.

Ok. It might be HD, although not 1280x720, as that's not the correct aspect ratio. But it'll take a long time for developers to take advantage of the higher resolution. Maybe a few months or so.

I found this photo earlier on the internet, is iPhone 5 coming being released on 7th of March 2010? Why on earch would P-Case be making a case for iphone 5 now otherwise???? They must have some inside information from Apple?

No because 7th of March 2010 has come and gone. iPhone 5 was not even thought of then.
