"verification required" displayed on screen

Hi, I plug in my iPhone 3GS into the ac charger and it displays the apple logo for a while like its rebooting then it goes to the normal home screen and displays the message "verification required" and it wants me to connect it to iTunes. When I unplug it from the ac power and plug it into my computer the computer doesn't not detect any connection. I dropped to phone last night possibly drunk so something must have happened.

Did you launch iTunes when you plug it in ?

Yer I did still didn't detect my iPhone.

Turn phone off, restart pc, run iTunes, hold down home button on phone and insert the USB lead into the phone...realise button when the logo appears... Should force a download of new software and give you the option of restoring a backup
