Unlocked and Jailbroken. HELP!!!

Ok. I currently bought an iphone from the pawn shop, which was already jailbroken and unlocked. But it had information still stored so once I got home, I attempted to restore it through itunes but I recieved error 1604. Meaning itunes couldnt recognize the iphone(iphone couldnt sync because the unlocked baseband is over the limit). So I followed some methods from YouTube which told me to download redsn0w and force it into DFU mode and downloading a 4.2.1 IPSW custom and regular restore file.

Custom = jailbroken built
Regular = unjail broken

The process told me to install the regular IPSW firmware through redsn0w to kick it outta the 1604 error, which it did.
But itunes wont finish restoring on the regular IPSW, only on the custom one. And that is jailbroken and I dont want that. I wanna start from scratch.

So does this mean because my iphone was unlocked, its now bricked and can only be restored through itunes on a jailbroken IPSW?

Are you working w/ an iPhone 3GS or 4?

If you are on the iPad baseband 06.15.00 then yes, you can only restore a custom firmware from now on.
