Touch screen malfunction!!! HELP!!!

Guys first week into my iphone4 i have already hit the ground..the touch screen just stop responding the home and power button are just fine..where as the 'slide to unlock' and 'slide to switch off' aren't working..as of now the phone is in locked condition..i cant recieve calls nor can i do anything else..i'm currently running ios 4.3.1 should i restore and update or try something else..plz help m i n a desperate situation..

Hold down home button and power button both until you see apples logo display on your screen. Do that several time like 3 times and see if it helps. If that doesn't help you can think about restoring the iOS.
