The iPhone 5 was named gadget of the year by Time Magazine

Time Magazine has just released its usual Top 10 gadget list for the year 2012 and there’s no surprise of who managed to take the first spot. It’s Apple, of course, and its iconic freshly released iPhone 5. The list includes some other Apple gear as well and it leaves out other seemingly popular pieces of technology. The magazine explains in a very flattering way why the iPhone 5 deserved the number 1 spot:

“The iPhone 5 is one of the most artfully polished gadgets anyone’s ever built, with a taller screen than previous iPhones built into a thinner, lighter case. The camera, with a particularly well-done panorama mode, is another highlight.”

Coming in at number 2, we find the Nintendo Wii U gaming console. At number three we have a very interesting camera released by Sony, that although doesn’t look to be capable of taking professional photographs, it beats expectations and performs incredibly. Oddly enough, we don’t find in the top Samsung’s latest achievement. The Galaxy S III did not make it in the Time top apparently.

Instead, we find the tablet-smartphone hybrid – the Samsung Galaxy Note II that took the 8th spot. However, Harry McCracken, who wrote the article, describes the S III as being “nifty”. Apparently, that wasn’t enough for the author to include it. Instead, he chose to add to the top innovative devices such as the Nest and Simple.TV. 2012 comes to an end we expect many more tops like this to emerge around the web and Apple will be, of course, part of them.

This is really good to know and i have seen the list. Samsung note 2 is on 8th no. Now we have clearly seen the popularity of iPhone 5 and hope that Samsung is also hearing this. Now Android fan-boys will crying that Apple gave a little bribe to Time. Poor Android guys !
