A new report coming from Bing lists the most searched news in 2012 stories for people using the Microsoft search engine (Bing). And the winer is the iPhone 5. Other topics Bing users were interested in, except Cupertino gear, were the Superstorm Sandy, the London Olympics and Obama’s reelection.

It seems that contrary to Microsoft’s efforts to draw the public’s eye on their products like Windows 8 or their tablets, the tech lovers are still very loyal to the Apple brand. Bing lovers also seemed interested in music, as the query for the fashionable music hit ‘GangnamStyle” made it to the top. Social media was another topic Internet browsers were interested in. Most searched for information about the Facebook stock flotation, the updated Twitter and Myspace version. LinkedIn and Reddit came last in people’s preferences.

Bing also released a full top of the most searched for electronic products. The iPhone 5 came first, followed by the iPad and Samsung’s Galaxy S III/Samsung Galaxy S3. Amazon’s Kindle and iPad 3 followed and then came the iPod Touch, the Xbox, PlayStation 3 and the iPhone 4S. Microsoft’s latest effort – Windows 8, scored only the 10th position. Nevertheless, to be fair and square Windows 8 hasn’t been out long, so over time, queries might pile up in this department. Compare this to the iPhone 5 who has been rumored for over a year.
