syncing iphone 4 with itunes on windows 10

When I try to sync, I get a message that the device is disconnected or not responding. New laptop, just downloaded iTunes, so that should all be up to date. Please give me a hint.

Yes, 2 cords, three ports. I get the message, then a window that says copying, but it never progresses. Thanks.
