Alright, now I'm pretty sure there is a few threads asking the same thing, but this one isn't a general get to know about IOS 5 like that. It pertains to me and what others would advise/do in my situation. Now I've been on 4.3.3 I think with untethered since I got my iPhone 4 this summer. With all that hype Phil caused 2 weeks ago about IOS 5 being ready untethered and just had to work a few kinks out, it's really becoming a drag. I'm impatient, but I figured I could hold off. Now my theme is acting up, or maybe my iPhone in general. After I get calls/txt within those calls my phone freezes and I have to hold the power and home button to turn it off. This has only recently been happening for about a week, btu I tried getting a new theme and Cydia won't let me download anything without updating all the "essential" stuff to IOS 5 which will cause my phone to not be able to do anything cydia related and such.

This role thing is a drag and I know the tethered version sucks hard, especially with the low battery life and all, but my question is what would others do in this situation. Should I wait it out with all the kinks and bugs I have now until IOS 5 releases untethered or just go with the tethered version for now until something better comes out?

My battery life hasn't changed since I went tethered. I say do it. Its not as bad as people make it out to be but just in case you don't know you will have to update to 5.0.1 which means you want be able go untethered when its released.

Well I was reading another forum and they have all the IOS's downloaded on file. I'm currently half way down downloading IOS 5 so wouldn't I be able to do something with the SSHH and do it that way?

The battery life hasn't changed? Do you have random reboots that cause you to need to be near your computer and such? I don't have my Mac on me at all times and I don't like the fact that if I have to respiring or reboot I won't be able to use my iPhone to the fullest like normal. I'm not worried about it dying.

Someone can step in and correct me if i'm wrong but apple isn't signing the 5.0 software anymore so if you didn't save the sshh while they were signing it you can't use them but you will need the 5.0 software to jailbreak because redsnow doesn't recognize the 5.0.1 yet.

Not for me but of course if i'm streaming music and browsing the web the battery will drain quicker. I've had one random reboot and didn't have my laptop. I switched between two themes in dreamboard and my springboard crashed. I would just say be careful of what tweaks you download while away from your computer.

Well I don't have the SSHH because I didn't think of downloading it at the time. I thought it would force my phone to update and all, but I have the IOS 5 ipsw downloaded. Shouldn't this be what I need to get the IOS 5 anyway.

As long as it's 5.0.1. You need 5.0 to jailbreak when using redsnow.

LOL okay right now you are on 4.3.3. Either download 5.0.1 off of this forum or update through itunes. Then jailbreak with redsnow but you have to select the 5.0 firmware.

So since I'm not downgrading I can just jump to 5.0, but whenever I decide to jailbreak the phone it will force it to go 5.0.1? My bad for all the questions I'm just trying to get everything straight before I make a decision on whether to wait or not.

I've done that. So if the IOS 5 untethered comes out I won't be able to jailbreak into it because I didn't update to 5.0 by myself.

The exploit that allowed a untethered jailbreak on 5.0 was patched in 5.0.1. If you have more questions just let me know.

The exploit? So... it stopped the Dev's from jail braking 5.0? lol

what exploit has ever allowed UNTETHER JAILBREAK ON IOS 5??? What are you talking about? which untether exploit was patch in iOS 5.0.1????

I'm no expert by any means so I could be wrong. From what i've read on this forum the up coming untethered jailbreak is for 5.0 but that exploit has been patched in 5.0.1
