For iPhone X restore from your previous iPhone make sure you have the same software as your old iPhone had.
Best way to do is start as a new iPhone on iPhone X update to 11.1 or if you are a beta tester 11.2 then restore from icloud or your computer.
I had 11.2 on my 7 plus and could not restore to my iPhone X because X came with 11.1. I had to register my devise as beta tester got 11.2 then I was able to restore without any problem.
