Recording from MacBook to iPhone5

I have a friend who sends me emails with songs of his barbershop quartet. How can I record those on my iPhone5? If I do it by holding the iPhone5 to my MacBook's speakers, it picks up the hum of the fans. Thank you in advance for your help and expertise.
