Question for iphone 4 with baseband 4.12.02

Hi Everyone

just received this phone from family who upgraded. I was searching on how to jailbreak and downgrade but found a thread stating that this version cannot be done. I am just wondering if it is fact true or has it been done since the post was created. I found the link below to use as a restore but if it cant be done, then I just want to know if I am wasting my time and also of course, do not want to create more problems then its worth. It was also updated to ios 6 without any backup of previous version so guess I am stuck on waiting for an untethered jb...Thanks in advance

It can only be downgraded if you have the SHSH saved for earlier firmware. Whatever SHSH you have, you can freely downgrade to that firmware.

Can this version of the phone be jailbroken though? Can anyone advise?

There is only a tethered jailbreak for iOS6 on iPhone4 right now.
