Question About Number in Corner of Cydia App?

I hope I'm posting this in the correct place....if not I apologize...I'm still learning. On my Cydia App there is a number in the top right corner...what does it mean and what do I need to do about it? Thanks!!

Does that mean I should update them......I've read on here somewhere about updating and not updating.....I just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing. Thanks!!

yes you should update them, the only thing you dont wanna update is the OS, but only itunes on the pc will ask you for that update when you plug your phone in. it is safe to update your cydia and app store apps
