I can't get Greenpois0n work on Virtual box or XP pc either.
I launch the virtual box as root superuser and greenp0ison as XP administrator.
The iTunes shows the iPhone in DFU mode but when I start the greenp0ison RC6 all end up with error “Please power off your device and connect it to begin” The redsn0w can't find the device either.

If you are using a virtual box, you must make sure to tell your computer to use the iPhone in the virtual machine and not on your normal operating system. I use Parallels to run my Windows virtual machine and as soon as I connect my phone to my computer I get a popup asking me if I want to use the USB device in OSX or use it in my virtual machine.

The iTune run inside of VirtualBox and is backing up the iphone contacts synchronizing pics, detecting the DFU mode.
From what I see, device is attached to the XP.

The problem is that Iphone was not being automaticaly attached to the Virtual Box as usb device. I have noticed that when I connect the iPhone the device appears in the usb list but Viruatl box doesn't recognize till it isn't manually enabled with a mouse click.
I have upgraded to Virtual Box 4.1.16 and device is now being automatically detected in normal or DFU mode. I was finally able to jailbreak with redsn0w 0.9.6b4.
