Near the end of last month, I completed the latest software update on my iPhone 5C. Since the update, all my photos from old text messages are now showing a question mark icon instead. I've been able to receive photo messages since, but none of the old photos will show. When I select "more" by holding down my finger on the question mark file icon, it only give me the option to delete. I've tried restarting the phone, restarting the app, and resetting the network settings.
How can I fix this?

Welcome to iPhoneForums, fmmc03!

This seems to be a common problem. Afaik it can appear after updating, turning iMessgae off an on, or running down the battery. Apple knows about it, and seems to be working on a fix for this problem.
To make sure Apple is informed, you could also send feedback:

What you could try, would be to restore the iPhone using iTunes, and using a backup afterwards to restore from. After restoring, reset your device:
Press and hold Home and Power button until the Apple logo appears, let go of both. The iPhone will power up on it's own.
Maybe it'll help resolve your issue.
