The X Factor is an incredibly popular TV show in the UK (and soon to be in the US too), and with the brand new series kicking off with much excitement in the UK last night, it’s no surprise that the long-awaited official X Factor app is already riding high in the UK app charts. According to a report on the free app in The Guardian, it features a “Tap to Clap” option, where you can tap the screen to show your like or dislike of a judges comments, contestant’s performance, guest performer, and results, which will then be registered on Twitter or Facebook. The app also has news and video clips from the show.

It makes you think how far the smartphone market has changed when you realise that, as the Guardian piece notes, for the 2010 X Factor show, just one year ago, it was sponsored by Nokia, and had an exclusive Ovi Store X Factor app for Symbian smartphones. Now this year, show makers Fremantle have gone with Apple and the iPhone of course. At present the app is only available in the UK as it directly relates to the UK show, but when the US show starts in September, doubtless there will be a similar app available in the US app store.

there was this really good irish girl on there today she was amazing.. then followed this guy who swore at them all and they where so angry and about to fight

That young Irish girl was really good. That stupid guy was the one that was on last year with another two girls. They were there to show not all young people were stupid and arrogant. They failed last year when he shouted and swore after being told they were rubbish, then threw the mic on the floor. Made an even bigger idiot of himself this year. Lol...
