My dad is happy with his iphone and has been given the new iphone 4 however he still likes his 3GS (dont ask) anyways, i am on o2 so i have gave him £200 for the iphone 4 and have spoke to 02 and there sending me out a sim for it, however can i put the o2 sim in the vodafone iphone 4 or not? do i need an unlocking code? please help thank you.

It all depends on what baseband (modem firmware) version it on.

Beware unlocking an iPhone isnt as simple as any other phone. I would suggest getting a vodafone sim instead...

My Daughter had the same problem, you will have to get a vodafone sim, ring vodafone and tell them to unlock the phone, you will have to put £20 credit on as that is how much it costs to get it unlocked, after a week or so you will get a text telling you to plug the iphone into iTunes, it will then unlock it. You will then be able to use any sim.

Only Apple can unlock it unless you use other software which will then change the baseband.
