Earlier today we learned in a report from The Wall Street Journal that Apple has placed 5 to 6 million Apple Watch orders with overseas suppliers. The publication claimed that half of the first orders would be for the entry-level Apple Watch Sport, one-third allocated to the stainless steel model, and the rest aimed at the top of the line Apple Watch Edition.

Apple has yet to announce a price for the stainless steel and Edition models of the Apple Watch. However, rumors and speculation seem to agree that the gold version of Apple's wrist-gizmo will cost over $4,000.

Though most of us won't be purchasing the extravagant Apple Watch Edition, Daring Fireball's John Gruber seems to think that most of Apple's wearable revenue will be coming from the gilded timepiece.
"So as a business — if the WSJ’s sources are correct, and if Apple is correctly predicting demand — Apple Watch revenue will be dominated by the gold Edition units, accounting for double or more of the revenue from all the other models combined. The Edition models would thus do to the Apple Watch lineup as a whole what the iPhone, iPad, and Macintosh do to the entire phone, tablet, and PC industries, respectively: achieve a decided majority of the profits with a decided minority of the unit sales."
Apple's first entry to the wearables market will make its retail debut sometime in April. The prices for the device will start at $349, with the Apple Watch Sport, and early sales predictions ranging from 8 to 26 million.
