Hi all,

I have an iphone 4 and recently upgraded to IOS5 and since then I have noticed that the camera roll doesn't even show me places the photos were taken whereas before it did.
I also do not have the facility to make Albums and this is what I wanted to do and I believed it was possible in IOS 5, even the tricks and tips booklet that I downloaded from Apple shows this, yet I can't do this.

Is there something more I should of done? or do I need to go back to IOS 4 and retry to upgrade again?

Thanks in advance,
Kayles

Are you referring to the "Place" and "Albums" tabs at the bottom of the Camera Roll screen that displays thumbnails? Those should still be there on IOS 5. If those tabs have disappeared then something is wrong, and you probably should reinstall IOS 5.

Or did you have some way to select a picture and get information about where it was taken? I never found a way to do that without a 3rd-party app.

The album mechanism is very awkward to use. You can't assign a picture to an album as you take it. You have to follow all of the following steps:
1) Take the picture and save it
2) Close the camera, Open Photos app, open Camera Roll
3) Select curvy arrow in upper right hand corner of screen
4) Some tabs will appear at the bottom of the screen, but they are greyed out. Select one or more photos from the display.
5) As soon as you select a photo, the tabs at the bottom of the screen come alive. Select "Add To"
6) Select "Create New Album" or "Add to Existing Album"
7) Type the name of the new album or select an existing album from the list. This causes the pictures to be assigned to the album.

After all this trouble you have accomplished practically nothing. These aren't real albums like the ones you can create on your computer and transfer to the iPhone. They are just POINTERS to the existing photo in your Camera Roll. If you delete the photo from your Camera Roll, they will disappear from the album. If you transfer your pictures from the iPhone to your computer, using iCloud or any other method, the album structure will not be transferred along with the pictures. It's really just a crude mechanism for filtering the pictures in your Camera Roll for iPhone viewing only. You can't sort or rename the pictures. So if you can't get it to work, you aren't really losing much.

Thankyou for your answer, the problem was me not the iphone, just relearning how it works. I do have these things in the photo part of the iphone, the camera roll is just that, pictures just taken, but when I went into the actually program of photos, everything was there, well I did have some help from you who is more savvy than myself at these things.
Thankyou again. I feel a little stupid, smiling, ohhhh ok a lot stupid. lol
