Firstly, I apologize if I put this in the wrong forum, I wasn't too sure where else to post my question. I know there's lots of people on this site that are very clever and innovative when it comes to figuring out how to make their i-devices do what they please.. I was really hoping someone out there has any way of being able to customize the EQ of an iPod classic. I recently got a new car, and I've tried mixing and matching all the iPod EQ settings with the car's settings and I can't get it to sound quite right. Some are very close on the iPod and if I could just tweak it manually a bit I could get it perfect. Does anyone have any information they could offer? Thanks in advance!

I'm familiar with jailbreaking and all that stuff, I have a jailbroken iPhone.. but as far as I know it's not even possible to jailbreak an iPod classic. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Unless you jailbreak to add tweaks to the stock iPod app which I'm not also very sure about. But there are apps music player apps in the apps store which comes with equalizer. Here you will have to move music to those kinda apps since they are very independent from the iPod app library. You can also have a look at djay app which is an Apple app and so have access to the iPod app music library. djay has a lot of eq options.

Well, as far as I know, there's no known method of jailbreaking an iPod Classic.. and I'm pretty sure that djay app is only for iPod Touch, etc. Getting an EQ for a Touch is no problem, I've seen plenty on the app store.. my problem is that I can't find anything for a Classic at all.

You can actually override the iPhone’s preset EQ settings by hard coding the settings into songs within iTunes. Just follow the steps.
* Set and save your custom iTunes Equalizer settings as a preset
* Select all the songs within iTunes that you want these EQ settings applied to
* Right-Click on a song title, click “Get Info”
* Click the “Options” tab
* Click on the pull-down menu next to “Equalizer Preset” and select the iTunes Equalizer preset value you saved earlier
* Click “OK” and wait, this will take a while as all the songs are now having the custom EQ settings applied to them
* When these songs are synced with your iPhone/iPod Touch, they will now have the custom equalizer settings.

Hope it helps.

I have seen ideas like that before but never actually tried it. Just now I made a preset where it would be a major noticeable difference, tested it on a song in iTunes, and on my iPod and it did not change at all. I wish there was some kind of way I could find where the preset EQ files are stored on the iPod and manually change them there. So much work for something so simple!

Djay works very well on iPhone iPod and even on Mac computers. Here are some basic screenshots of the EQ in djay.

That would be great, however I'm looking to customize the EQ on an iPod Classic, not a Touch. :/
