According to AppleInsider it seems that the iPhone SE is already working its magic for Apple on the smartphone market in China. DigiTimes reports that sources in Apple’s supply chain say that phones from Chinese and Taiwanese smartphone manufacturers including Huawei, Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo have lost marketshare thanks to the iPhone SE.
Just as Apple intended, it seems that while the iPhone was already popular in China, the more competitively priced iPhone SE is already making inroads into the market.
Apparently this latest turn of events has left the Chinese and Taiwanese smartphone manufacturers with extra inventory after overreaching themselves and being overly optimistic about smartphone sales, without reckoning on the success of the iPhone SE.
Camera module manufacturers in particular have found themselves with excess supplies, having only met 70 to 80 percent of their projected shipments.
The same sources also say that Apple’s switch from 15-volt to 20-volt power supplies has meant that its suppliers have been left with excess inventory.
