iphone 6 Calendar Birthday dates

Good morning to all.
Regarding the ios 10 calendar I have been trying to get my family birthdays setup in the calendar.I followed the way to add birthday that I found on the apple help site.But when I select the date month then the ---- not the year as most of the birthdays will be in next year, The calendar don't show 2017.
Every time I set a date ie: 23 November-----.then select done go back to the contacts then I did check to see if the date for that birthday was correct and it did not show what I selected it showed 23 November 2016.
How do I get it to show next years 2017 birthday dates.
Any help on this Please.

Hi Dave,

You have two options. First is to go straight to Contacts, find the person whose birthday you want to add, then tap Edit, then scroll down to Birthday and add the date there. It will repeat every year. Alternatively, if you enter the date in the Calendar itself you need to go to Repeat and select "annually".
