Verizon shows the prices but they're kind of grayed out. The Chat person told me I could preorder it now which obviously was not so.

IslesFan said:Someone may need to correct me but no commitment means your not signing a new contract and unlocked means sim unlocked ie can take SIM cards from other providers. My Verizon one is sim unlocked due to FCC rules.
Thanks, I assumed there was some difference.
So if Verizon is sim unlocked, you should be able to take it to Europe and buy a Sim card for local use? Assuming that works, then one should be able to use an AT&T Card in a Verizon iPhone 5 and vice versa?
Wildfire said:Wow, that's news to me. I just don't like buying from Best Buy.However if they're selling it, the others won't be far behind.
Also, what's the difference between "no commitment" and "unlocked" when I buy directly from Apple?
scifan57 said:Unlocked means that you can activate it with any cellular carrier almost anywhere in the world, no commitment means that it's locked but not under contract, and you can request that it be unlocked.
Wildfire said:Thanks for all answers I received. I think I'll wait till Apple sells the unlocked 5 here in the States.
I tried to reply to the Thread, but the Send button stayed grayed out! Wonder why?
