iPhone 5 latest iOS and same iTunes

today I found that all entries in my ducuments app have completely disappeared.

Last time this happened I downloaded a version of the app and they all reappeared.

This didn't work this time.

I was using iCloud to store everything for this app.

What can I do to get back to how it was?

Can anyone help please?

Do you have a backup that dates from before the documents disappeared/

You could try force quitting the App. Double tap the Home Button to bring all running Apps into view and then swipe up on your Documents App. Wait a few moments and then re-open.

Try restoring from that backup where the documents were still included. See if this brings them back.

Did you backup to iTunes or iCloud? With an iCloud backup, you'll have to erase your iPhone, before you can restore it.

I'm not confident in my iCloud backup as suspect this is why I have current issues.

Can you suggest an alternative suggestion?

I don't fancy clearing phone to discover I'll fall very short and be left in the lurch

I was working with the iCloud option.

Is there a way I can look and see if in iCloud?

Not really, if the files are not in iCloud Drive.

It's possible to get back files from iCloud if they have been deleted. Maybe it will help in your case as well.

Go to www.icloud.com on a computer, using a browser. Login. Then select "Settings". When you scroll to the bottom, you'll find something like "Restore files". Select it. If you find your missing documents there, it's possible to get them back to iCloud.

Restore from your backup to iTunes. This backup includes nearly everything on your iPhone. Afaik, these files are backed up as well, and they will reappear when you restore from that backup.
