iPhone 4 Gevey unlock problems for Germany

Hey,
I have an iPhone 4 4.2.1 firmware 03.10.01 locked to AT&T.
Since I am in Malaysia right now I unlocked it using the Gevey turbo sim and everything worked out very well. But I also tried to use the phone in Malaysia with my German mobile card. This didn’t work out. Here is my question:
Is this due to the fact that I am in Malaysia and therefore my German sim card can only be used when I am in Germany? So it will work when I am back in Germany and try it. Or is it possible that Gevey will not work in Germany with my German carrier and I only unlocked it for Malaysia?

Its more likely your german sim isn't set up for international use...
