have you tried a hard reset? hold home button and power button till you see the apple logo then release both buttons

not sure if you ever had a blackberry but its the same as doing a battery pull it helps when the phone is slugish

no problem, no harm in doing that every couple days or anytime you think its acting slow

Closing all running app in your taskbar helps as well. Double tap the home button for it to appear and you can delete them like you would normally delete an app.

I usually do this before a hard reset every 2-3 weeks...

My friends testing devices seemed to slow down extremly after installing a SSH server.
So it is probably like Windows, you can install apps like you want, but you should check, that they are not starting at boot time.

I don't notice any difference in performance or boot times with open SSH installed or not...
