The existing naming convention is continuing, with the new release being called macOS Sierra.

I'm guessing IOS10 will be available to download in the UK around 6pm.

iOS 10 is available for my phone. 1Gb download so it'll have to wait until I have wifi available.

Thanks to @iDan for the info that iTunes 12.5.1 is available. I certainly will not be updating iOS until I have the latest version of iTunes.

Be careful! Some users are experiencing problems with the iOS 10 install. Be sure to have a good backup. - Problems with iOS 10?

It's probably a good idea for people to do this update before trying to use iTunes to update their iOS devices to iOS 10.
