    Your friend let someone else register the iPhone as theirs. That is not Apple's fault. And Apple has a need to protect those that register the iPhones or anyone could mess with the whole process.

    Why have you not let your friend take the phone to Apple when he is the one who purchased it in the first place and also made this mess.

    For Apple to disable the ID LOCK without any verifications will open a whole new world in the market of handphone theft.
