Hello new I'm a newb so please help tried jailbreaking my iPhone 4s with green poison

You cannot jail break an iPhone 4S with greenpois0n. The only jailbreak for a 4S is using the tool Absinthe AND your iOS must be 5.0.1.

What, exactly, is happening, or not, when you run Absinthe. Do you get an error message ... does the phone just sit there?

As this jail break tool is your only option, we'll need more details as to what is going on in order to help you use the tool.

Then you don't have a 4S or you are not on a supported firmware.

Ahhh, that is why. Only version 5.0.1 can be jailbroken on the 4S. There is no jailbreak for the 5.1 at the moment.

No, there are 3 firmwares for the 4S; 5.0, 5.0.1 and 5.1. Only the first 2 are currently jailbreakable.
