hackitvate 3GS on official 6.1.6

Hi,

I found my old iPhone after ages and decided to update it. So, without much thinking, I went to iTunes and updated my phone to the 6.1.6 version and now after the reboot, its asking me to insert a sim to activate (which I don't have)

Any way to activate it ?



I tried using redsn0w but when I select the stock 6.0.0 IPSW and click jailbreak, it gives me a "exploit failed" error.


Also, I will not be using this phone with any carrier. Just wanna play around with some apps.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Any SIM card will work to activate the phone, it doesn't have to be an active SIM card.

I inserted a sim card and it says simcard not valid.

You'd have to tethered jailbreak using RedSn0w. The hacktivation process is bound to the jailbreaking process. If you want an untethered jailbreak after the hackvation, install p0sixspwn from Cydia and you're done.

You'll get exploit failed if you're not in DFU mode or your PWNED DFU procedure was interrupted or improperly done
