Going from one page to a different page.

Good day to all.
Installed ios12 last night and noticed on some of the previews on the new features on the iPhone . One was showing swiping from one screen to another.ie if I was looking at the notes app how would I get to pictures or books etc, The video shows a person swiping the screen with his her thumb to scroll from one open page to another.
Is that possible or is it just for the video to demonstrate. Hope you can understand my question Please.

It’s possible. Here’s a swipe from the left edge caught in mid swipe.
I’m going from one page to another in this forum.

Once you start using the gestures they become second nature, much better than the old way
